Am I the only one that is amazed at what is happening in Washington? First we have bills passed in the House and Senate that Congressman openly admit they had not read. Then, earlier this week, it appeared that Congress was being asked to vote on a bill that wasn’t even written yet (we’ll fix it later was the promise).
But best of all – let’s try to now pass legislation without actually voting on it by “deeming” it passed. What kind of parliamentary gimmicks will they find next?
The concept of “Deem and Pass” is not new. Under this process, a Senate-passed health bill would be "deemed" to have passed if House members voted in favor of a rule governing a separate bill with amendments to it. This procedure has been used in the past when it came to passage of Legislation such as the ban on smoking on domestic airline flights, rules around census sampling, deficit reduction acts and the line-item veto. But never has it ever been used to implement trillion dollar legislation. How could anyone even think that they could use such a parliamentary procedure on a bill with this magnitude and reach?
The American people are increasingly opposed to the current legislative proposals. They are even further opposed to the politics of how it is being managed. But to learn that our Congressman want to be shielded from how they vote is totally unacceptable. If it is the will of the American people, then so be it. However, if the House is hesitant to use “reconciliation” because they don’t trust the Senate, why should the American public trust them as well?

If this HUGE bill is passed using such tricks, I fear that it will become precedent and Democrats will force through every law they want this way. It has become crystal clear that Democrats do not serve the people. They have blatantly ignored their constituents and continued to push through a terrible bill so that they can change America into a country most Americans clearly do not want (and many more will not realize it until it is too late). They can't speak to the substance of the bill (since it doesn't actually exist) and because whatever they pass is very lacking in substance and real healthcare reform in addition to being very expensive, so they are distracting us with process. They are despicable and it makes me sick that the media gives them cover and is complicit in trying to cram this bill down America's throat.

I love this Guy! More of us need to raise our voices and be heard. The other thing that is lost in all this is that final CBO scoring isnt even in yet. We don't know what these "fixes" may even cost.
